In small groups of up to 10 participants, you’ll gain support and motivation from peers while building a strong connection with the facilitator. The environment is welcoming and non-confrontational, helping you realise you’re not alone in your journey.
Lakeside Rooms periodically runs group therapy sessions and workshops in small groups using a friendly, non-confrontational environment so that each person can benefit from peer support and motivation.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) is a psychological treatment developed by Prof. Marsha M. Linehan, a psychology researcher originally from the University of Washington, to treat persons with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Doing DBT requires initial engagement in individual therapy to prepare for inclusion in skills group. The individual component provides space to work on suicidal urges and dysregulated emotions. The group sessions teach the skills unique to DBT, and also provide practice with regulating emotions and behaviour in a social context.

Stress Management: Building Calm
Nearly everyone feels anxious when they’re confronted with a challenge. Mild anxiety, like that experienced before an exam or a sporting event, can help people perform to the best of their ability. However, when anxiety is more prolonged and intense, and negatively impacts on day-to-day life, it’s a problem. This workshop uses evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies to demystify anxiety, and help participants better manage the physiological, emotional, and cognitive components of anxiety and worry. It also addresses related issues of communicating effectively, and managing other feelings such as anger and depression.
