Meet Alissa:

Alissa is a registered psychologist with over 17 years of university education, and has graduated with five university degrees, including a PhD and Master of Clinical Psychology. This extensive academic background has afforded Alissa the opportunity to work in a diverse array of roles such as a Psychologist, Psychiatry Research Associate, Conference Speaker, University Tutor, Primary/High School Teacher, Journalist, and Yoga-Mindfulness Instructor. Alissa most recently worked as a psychologist with youth (12 – 26-year old’s) presenting with moderate to severe psychopathology. Mostly, her clients were young people struggling with presentations of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), chronic anxiety/social anxiety, and suicide risk. Other previous roles have included experience with providing comprehensive, standardised psychological assessment, case formulation and report writing (e.g., school, forensic, NDIS) for children, adolescents, and older adults. Alissa has worked collaboratively in research teams on large NHMRC research trials, as well as the lead investigator in other conducted research. This has been translated in three separate university level theses, including a PhD, and published in over 14 peer-reviewed scientific journals and international book chapters.

How can Alissa help you:

Alissa specialises in therapy for youth (12 to 26 year old’s), and cognitive/psycho-educational diagnostic assessment for children, adolescents and younger adults. Alissa believes one of the key factors related to effective therapy and positive treatment outcomes is finding a psychologist who the client “clicks” with. As such, Alissa prioritises rapport building, connection, and building a high level of trust with clients. She ensures her clients don’t ever feel pressured into doing things they are not comfortable with, and allows them to voice their problems and goals without fear of being judged. Alissa brings a warm, friendly, chilled and compassionate vibe to therapy. Clients quickly notice and appreciate the depth of commitment, passion, and great lengths Alissa will go to in helping them become empowered to make positive changes in their life, and move towards living richer, more meaningful, and brighter lives.
